The Women Behind gen.boutique
March is Women's History Month, a time to honor the contributions and achievements of women throughout history. At gen.boutique, we're proud to celebrate the incredible women who drive our company forward. In this blog post, we're shining a spotlight on Jess Strohm, Hannah Herrig, and Lauren Strohm as they share their experiences as women in the production industry.
Jess Strohm, Owner and Creative Director of gen.boutique, believes that being a woman-owned business is a significant advantage in the production industry. With marketing often being a woman-dominated field, Jess emphasizes the importance of connecting with clients on a deeper level. Having women at the helm allows gen.boutique to better understand clients' goals and empathize with their audiences, setting them apart from the competition. Her best advice for uplifting other women business leaders would be, “Giving 100% looks different every day, respect what you have, give what you can. "
Hannah Herrig, Small Business Owner of Peel Design Co. and gen.boutique's Camera Operator & Editor, reflects on her journey across various industries. Despite many male-dominated fields, Hannah finds her unique perspective as a woman brings fresh insights to the table. Her experience highlights the value of diversity and inclusion in creative endeavors. She shared with us a memory that makes her proud, “They always say that once you hit 3 years of running a business, the chance of the business failing goes down. That always seemed to stick with me as each anniversary passed. I've successfully hit 3 years of running my business back in August of 2023 and that has been something that has always made me proud."
For Lauren Strohm, Prop Stylist at gen.boutique, the production industry has historically been a male-dominated space. However, Lauren has witnessed a positive shift towards inclusivity and diversity, with more women taking on leadership roles. As part of a woman-owned business, Lauren finds it rewarding to contribute to this change and embrace new opportunities. Lauren shares, “Kindness is such a powerful tool when it is used to bring others up."
As we celebrate Women's History Month, let's heed the words of Ruth Bader Ginsburg: "As women achieve power, the barriers will fall." By recognizing and uplifting women's voices, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future for all. Join us in honoring the remarkable women breaking barriers and shaping the world around us.
